I don’t really talk about food a lot on here, but I love to cook. I enjoy shopping, planning, and cooking a meal. Even if it just for myself. I also really love drinking a glass of wine while cooking. Anyone with me? I know some people hate cooking, but for me, it is therapeutic and a wonderful way to end the day.
Macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite dishes to make. A truffle mac and cheese to be exact. Then I saw this post by one of favorite food bloggers, How Sweet it is. Yum! Anyone out there have a great mac and cheese recipe for me? I would love to try something new!
I love the new look of the blog!!! SO great! And as for the pic of Mac ‘n Cheese? It’s my favorite comfort food of all time. I use a Sandra Lee recipe that, (don’t snicker!) uses Cheez Whiz! You boil your pasta (I always use a fun shape like farfalle or penne), and while it’s cooking melt 1/2 stick of butter, 3/4 c. milk, and add 1/4 c. Cheez Whiz when the milk is hot and stir until melted. Add 2 c. shredded X-sharp cheddar and stir until melted. Toss the drained pasta with the cheese sauce mixture, put it all in a casserole dish, top with bread crumbs and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly. My whole family LOVES it! (and I swore I would never use anything like Cheez Whiz after I left my mother’s house!!).
Can I talk about how much I love Sandra Lee? Especially because she always says, “This drink is for Aunt Sandy,” and then she pours TONS of alcohol in her beverage. I will totally make this!!!
I just realized this reply makes it seem like I love her b/c of her need to make every drink a alcohol infused one. I should clarify that I think it is quite hilarious that this is what she does.
I’m with you! I love to cook and planning meals is almost as much fun. We joined a CSA this year so the surprise produce each week elevates the challenge a little. My favorite mac and cheese recipe is a martha stewart recipe – I’ll dig it out one of these days and send it to you. We only make it at Christmas, b/c otherwise I’d be enormous.
