Prepping for Summer

Here in Austin, it is officially summer.  I love summer and all of its water related activities.  What I don’t love  as much is actually being in a bathing suit.  I love swimming, but lounging in my bathing suit is not something I love.  In order to make this a bit easier, I have been trying to make myself a little more bathing suit ready by using Jergens Natural Glow and dry brushing.

I am a fair-skinned person, but this Jergens has helped  me be a little less pasty.  It is pretty foolproof and doesn’t smell like some other self-tanners I have used.  I don’t like getting an actual tan, but really prefer the way I look in a swimsuit if I have a bit of color.  Jergens does just that.

I have also been relying on dry brushing to help minimize the apperarnce of cellulite.

While I know that nothing truly gets rid of cellulite, I do think my dry brushing has helped.  Maybe it is all in my head, but it makes me feel better. Three or four times a week before a shower, I dry brush my body.  I don’t have a fancy brush, just one I got as a gift after a spa treatment.  These two things combined have helped ease my bathing suit anxiety a bit.  What do you do to prep for the summer?

Lame

Lame is the only word I can come up with for this blog lately.  I hate when people say they have been too busy to do xyz, but that is the only excuse I can come up with.  I’m behind on all forms of social media and anything else not work related.  This is, of course, not a bad problem to have, but I still feel lame about it.  Next week should be different and I hope to be able to post somewhat regularly.  Anything is better than what I have been managing to pull off.

On another note, I would totally buy this dress if it weren’t polyester.  Wouldn’t it be fun for the summer?

Really?

I am shocked that these are sold out in certain sizes.  These things are hideous.  I mean, really? Who would wear these?  Oh, they are also almost 700 dollars.  Seriously.

Lies

This dress is going back.  My natural waist does not start in the middle of my boobs.  Boo.

Wedding Gifts

I usually buy off the registry for weddings, but this year I have several dear friends that are getting married/have gotten married and just buying off the registry didn’t seem like enough.  Ever since my friend Linda started her Etsy shop, Though Very Humble , I knew I would be ordering a few custom pieces as gifts.  Yesterday I received my pictures and am beyond excited to send them on their way to my friends.  I am thinking about  having one made for myself, too.

This one is for my girlfriend that got married last month.  I love all the details and their sweet stance.  Do you always buy off the registry?

Eaton Trading Company

I have been looking to buy new sunglasses for about 6 months now.  I think sunglasses are really hard to buy.  It is hard to find a pair that fits your face well, or maybe it is just hard to find a pair that fits my face.  Thanks to Grechen, I found a pair of Karen Walker sunglasses that I love for a great price through a Refinery 29 deal.

I had never purchased anything through Eaton Trading Company, but I would totally buy from them again.  Not only did my package arrive quickly, but it came wrapped nicely, with a free tote bag, and a personal note.  Love!

I picked up this Enza Costa tank, but in the black and white colorway.

And the Karen Walker Deep Freeze Sunglasses.  I love them!

A Trip to the Tailor

I am a firm believer in tailoring; it can totally transform a piece.  Before, my only adventures in tailoring were to shorten or take in pieces, but this time around, I had my tailor remove sleeves. I loved the print and shape of both dresses, but found myself never wearing them because of the sleeves .  I almost threw them into my sell pile, but realized I could easily have the sleeves removed.  This DVF dress had puff sleeves, which I found were a bit too girly for me.  Sleeves removed, I now have a great dress for summer.

I have now worn my new wedges two days in a row.  Yesterday I left my house at 8:30 and didn’t get home until 8:00 that night.  My day was not spent sitting, either, and not once did my feet ache.  They were worth the trip to Rack Room!
